I am so honoured to be bringing you all of the transformational elements of a 200hr yoga teacher training, with the added flexibility, reduced price and comfort of it being delivered entirely online, through a blend of live online mentoring sessions and a library of recorded materials.

I began my own yoga practice 22 years ago and over the past 6 years I have been a course leader and writer for many yoga teacher trainings and I have helped over 400 students flourish as confident, open minded and passionate yoga practitioners, going on to share the incredible life affirming benefits of yoga with their communities, creating a ripple effect of joy and self acceptance. Now is the perfect time for you to start that journey too.

As well as watching their personal development, I have been so proud to see my graduates go on to create yoga retreat businesses, teach in leading yoga studios, start yoga charity initiatives, launch online membership sites, build yoga in the workplace offerings, specialise to teach yoga to people affected by cancer, addictions and bereavement and even lead their own teacher trainings.

COURSE FORMAT

MODULE ONE

Body . Breath . Buoyancy

“This module will be a deep dive into all things physical, using applied and experiential anatomy knowledge to understand the workings of the human body, the mechanics of breathing, the yogic subtle body chakras, nadis, bandhas and prana and the connections between our genes, environments, choices, activities and our physical and mental states. Looking at traditional āsana as well as modern movement patterns and sports science, we will be exploring pathways towards various yoga poses and transitions, learning strengthening and mobility drills to gain more spacial awareness, control and ease. Common injuries, conditions and the natural variety seen in bodies will all be honoured, everything has a solution, there is always a work around. By challenging standardised alignment we can start to create a yoga practice that serves the student, meeting them exactly where they are, giving them exactly what they need. All bodies are welcome and respected.”

MODULE TWO

Psychology . Philosophy . Psychosensory

“There is so much more to yoga than the physical practice, there is a rich abundance of philosophical teachings and an important cultural heritage to be explored. Over the years, yoga has evolved to meet the changing needs of each generation and modern philosophers and leaders in psychological fields have added to the body of knowledge, we will be comparing, contrasting and debating the many pathways towards conscious awakening offered by these teachings. By gaining more self awareness through exploring your values, figuring out what brings your life meaning and leaning into all of the challenging aspects of your mind and your life, you will build a sense of confidence and self acceptance that enables you to lead from the front, as an honest teacher, still very much working on understanding yourself, not bypassing any of your humanness and fostering openness and compassion in your students. This runs alongside some fascinating insights on what the senses are, how to ignite and quieten them and how to truly listen to your body.”

MODULE THREE

Creativity . Community . Compassion

Embracing the whole spectrum of what yoga has to teach us includes embracing the whole spectrum of your human experience, taking time to look at your patterns of behaviour, learning to bolster your mindset, sit with all of the flavours of life and weave your way through the complex tapestry of your emotions and thoughts. Alongside looking into your own life and diving into boundaries, self efficacy, resilience and imposter syndrome, we will also be expanding our focus outwards, to see how best we can serve our communities and learn about people and plights we may have been unknowingly turning away from. We will learn together about anti-racism, cultural appropriation, why accommodating for accessibility isn’t enough, how to address our own privilege and hold compassionate discussions around how to commit to change and how to inspire others to do so as well, without shaming, blaming or alienating anyone.”

MODULE FOUR

Anatomy and Physiology

Many people are nervous about studying this topic, but I have brought it to life with a collection of video lectures as well as many other resources such as quizzes, photos and videos of every topic and a complete anatomy and physiology handbook. Be inspired by the amazingly complex and yet completely understandable human body, which we will explore by getting more aware of how our own bodies move as well as considering the wide range of diversity in other peoples bodies. We will dive into this topic in a gender neutral fashion, expanding how we look at bodies beyond the gender binary as well as thinking about bodies in a uplifting manner. There will be no body shaming, no ableism and healthcare inequalities and wellness industry scaremongering will be put under a spotlight. This modules will leave you feeling empowered to be more at home with your own body as well as feeling more confident to teach other people with their unique bodies.”

Meet Your Teacher

My teaching style is fluid, inspired by Dance, Osteopathy and Psychology studies to create a biomechanical yet embodied approach. I back away from micromanaging students, preferring to give just enough cues to empower you to find the best ways for your unique body, but targeting the exact areas to open and contract, making my classes accessible and stealthily challenging! I am all about giving autonomy and agency to students whilst being your biggest cheerleader.

I guide students to practice from a place of mindful engagement, rather than creating more strain, tension and ego. No teacher is beyond questioning and I am constantly considering what I am offering to ensure it is dogma free, current and evolving, whilst still deeply honouring and learning from tradition.

I know from personal experience that for many people, loving their bodies and minds feels like an epic task, so I facilitate a space that fosters acceptance as a first step, love might come later. With personal experience of eating disorders, self harm, anxiety, depression and addictions I am aware of how trauma can live in the body and I can say hands down that yoga has helped me to turn my life around. I am still on my own healing journey, I don’t think it will ever end, I welcome you to join me whilst you are on yours or whilst you help others with theirs. This is a shame free environment.

I am passionately anti-diet culture and honour bodies of all shapes and sizes, as well as being eating disorder and body trauma considered. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community I know how easy it is to feel alienated, whoever you are, you are welcome in my class, my ears are open, I am ready to learn how to serve you better.

MY ETHOS AND APPROACH AS A YOGA TEACHER TRAINER

Everyone will feel welcome and be accomodated for

Nobody will ever feel left behind, it’s my job to find the right approach for every person

The modern fitness and yoga communities need to work more on anti-racism, colourism and cultural appropriation, I am doing and sharing the work

The modern fitness and yoga communities need to work more on fatphobia, ableism and sexism, I am doing and sharing the work

I hold a safe and inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community, of which I am a member, as well as respecting pronouns and removing gender assumptions and stereotypes

There is no such thing as perfect posture or a correct way to do one movement or exercise for all people, simply many options, none superior, all will be explored

I actively discourage any teacher, coach or mentor being placed on a pedestal, including myself, we learn as a collective, all equally ready to listen and contribute

Every alignment cue for every movement will have a fully explained anatomical/biomechanical or psychological reasoning

Bullying, gaslighting, defensiveness, cancel culture, spiritual bypassing and toxic positivity will not be entertained

Every approach, tradition and philosophy will be respected and discussed

It is the job of the teacher, coach and mentor to serve the student

Creativity, integrity, adaptability and acceptance are my key tenets
